Education and training


There's no need to quit your job and head off to college. Insurance-related degrees can be successfully completed alongside your job, meaning you earn while you learn. But if you are looking at full-time university courses there are plenty that will set you up nicely for a career in risk. Either way here are some links to colleges with relevant courses to get you ahead in risk.

Calderdale College is a college in Halifax that offers a wide range of programmes including Apprenticeships in financial services. The college has many years' experience of working with employers to provide workplace solutions as well as classroom-based qualification delivery and support.

They are constantly developing innovative training methods, incorporating the valuable input they receive from the Financial Services industry.

Southern Regional College

Southern Regional College

The Southern Regional College currently offers the CII Certificate in Insurance as a 15 week programme (3 hours a week). The Certificate is modular in structure, enabling you to select units of study according to your preference and career requirements. Each unit has a credit value and the accumulation of the stipulated number of credits leads to the award of the Certificate.

Apprenticeships


Acorn

Acorn People

Acorn is a leading provider of training and development solutions. They design and deliver tailored programmes and apprenticeships including Apprenticeships in Providing Financial Services. Acorn is the only CII accredited status provider in Wales and can offer a range of CII qualifications either as part of the apprenticeship or stand alone.

A H Training

A H Training

A H Training have many years experience in general and life insurance. We offer Apprenticeships in both of these areas and the training usually attracts government funding.

Learners are fully supported in their workplace by a dedicated Assessor/Trainer to achieve the Apprenticeship or the Advanced Apprenticeship in their chosen field.

Babington Business College

Babington Business College

Babington Business College offers Apprenticeship training in Providing Financial Services - Insurance Route. Training is delivered in the workplace, usually on a one-to-one basis and covers various aspects of risk from claims, intermediation, underwriting to customer care. Learners will work towards an NVQ as well as the Certificate of Insurance. Government funding is often available.

Bromley College

Bromley College of Further and Higher Education delivers Apprenticeships in many areas of financial services to companies in London and the UK. They have regularly proven their credentials within the industry and developed many mutually beneficial links with employers ranging from small organisations to multinational blue chip corporations.

Skills Solutions

Skills Solutions

Skills Solutions is a leading Apprenticeship provider in England. Based in Manchester, they deliver many Apprenticeship programmes, including Providing Financial Services and Advising on Financial Products - these both contain CII's professional qualifications.

Skills Solutions is also an accredited Apprenticeship provider with the CII, and has been since 2008.

WS Training is East Anglia's premier provider of quality training and has offered training solutions to local and national businesses over the past fourteen years. Companies need look no further than WS Training to meet the vast majority of their training needs as we are able to provide government funded programmes in addition to short workshops, accredited programmes and tailored courses.

We became a CII accredited centre in November 2009 and we have an experienced team of assessors who deliver Retail Financial Services apprenticeships at both Level 2 & 3. We are also proud to have been named at the National Apprenticeship Service Apprenticeship Provider of the Year for 2009.

Wilford Commercial Training Ltd (WCT) is a Financial Services training provider, specialising in apprenticeships. We started in 2006 in the East Midlands, and nowadays operate all over England, with a team of widely experienced and enthusiastic staff.

Because we specialise in financial services, we can really look after the needs of apprentices and support them whilst they work towards their award. All of our work is delivered on the employers premises, giving hands on experience in real life situations.
