Join Markel's London offices - here's how Markel International is part of the Markel family of companies. This US-owned business specialises in risk and insurance, and Markel International works out of the City of London. 

The company is still family-run, even though it is among the largest companies in the US. 

Growing its presence in the UK, Markel now offers you a range of ways to enter the business, through its Markel University brand:

  • Apprentice
  • Intern
  • Graduate
Apprenticeship

Markel offers a 15-month apprenticeship to kick start your career in insurance. Remember, you earn while you learn - and get supported through a globally-recognised professional qualification (Cert CII). You will build your soft skills as well as your technical knowledge, making you a true professional. 

To apply, you will need at least 280 UCAS points, grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) and you'll need to be eligible to work in the UK.

Internship

If you're in your penultimate year at uni, you should know that internships are a great way to get your foot in the door of a business. 

Markel's internship lets you work a range of business functions including Reinsurance, Marketing and Strategy. 

The company is offering an eight-week paid summer internship, including participation in a short project.

Importantly, it also offers you the chance to secure your place on Markel's graduate programme the following year. 

To apply, you will need to be on track for a 2:2 or above - the subject is not important. You will need to have at least 280 UCAS points (or equivalent) and you'll need to be eligible to work in the UK.

Graduate scheme

So, you're in your final year and you want to join a high-quality graduate scheme that support your professional development - here it is. 

The Markel International graduate programme is an 18-month programme that gives you access to three business teams. At the end of the graduate programme., you will be well on the way to achieving the coveted ACII designation and you will have refined and developed your soft skills too.

To apply, you will hold (or be predicted) a 2:2 or above in any discipline. You will need to have at least 280 UCAS points (or equivalent) as well as being eligible to work in the UK.
