Apprenticeship result for brokerage

TH March is an insurance brokerage with a long tradition of working with the jewellery sector. Established in 1887, it has several offices around the UK, from Glasgow to Devon.

It launched its Apprenticeship programme in 2008. With the help of the CII, T H March secured funding and enrolled 15 of their staff on an Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail Financial Services. This Apprenticeship contains one of the CII's globally-recognised professional qualifications in insurance.

Nine students so far have successfully completed the programme and more will complete before the training comes to an end.

The key focus of the Apprenticeship was the achievement of the CII Certificate in Insurance and a Level 3 NVQ in Retail Financial Services. The training, which involved regular visits to four of the firm's offices in London, Sevenoaks, Birmingham and Plymouth was provided by Apex Consultants in conjunction with Northbrook College in Sussex.

Commenting on the programme, Gareth Huxtable Dip CII, Associate Director at T H March said, "Without the help of the CII we would never have known about this intiative. The Certificate in Insurance provides an excellent grounding in basic insurance principles and product knowledge.

"I have no doubt that our staff who have completed the course are far more confident and better equipped to carry out their roles in our firm. A win win situation - the staff benefit and so do our customers. I was very impressed with the quality of the training provided by Apex Consultants."
