Apprenticeship result for brokerage

Andy Barton is Lampier's General Business Unit Manager, based in Bristol.

Lampier, now part of the Jelf Group, encourages its staff to engage in training and gain professional qualifications. Several staff have undertaken the Apprenticeship programme, which includes the CII Certificate in Insurance qualification.

City of Bristol College helped the company part-fund the programme and also helped deliver the programme. The Apprentices met their assessor every three weeks for one hour, so the programme did not eat into anyone's working day too much.

Andy said "We all chose different subject areas which complemented our individual job roles; I work in commercial insurance, lead a team and wanted to stretch myself. I focused on subjects such as new business, renewals and adjustments, and I also went for a management module."

"Working towards the NVQ meant everyone had an input, and it really brought the group together."
