Car insurance - and car maintenance

One in five drivers do not think to regularly check or maintain their vehicles, according to research undertaken by Sainsbury's Car Insurance.

Undertaking essential maintenance holds equal importance to contacting professionals with jobs in insurance companies to renew and update car insurance policies. Motorists wouldn't drive around without aqequate, comprehensive insurance, so why drive around in a potentially unsafe vehicle?

However the results of the research demonstrated that only two out of every five British motorists regularly check their tyre tread, and just under 50 per cent monitored their water coolant levels.

These statistics are worrying, particularly after cars have had to go through one of the harshest winter seasons Britain has seen in 30 years. The head of car insurance at Sainsbury's, Ben Tyte, told Which 4 U that car owners should be undertaking regular maintenance of their beloved vehicles, in order to extend their lifespans and keep them road-safe.

"Every day, we make considerations that will keep ourselves and our family healthy and safe, and we should apply the same train of though to ensuring our cars are safe and roadworthy."

"It's simple, straightforward and requires just a few minutes to carry out basic checks, and doing so will give you peace of mind that your car is in a good condition, and safe to be on the road," Tyte added on Fleet Directory.
