Xchanging-sponsored University Boat Race this weekend

This Saturday, for the 157th time, crews from Oxford and Cambridge universities will be battling it out for honours in the University Boat Race in London.

The race, which runs run Putney to Mortlake in South West London, attracts thousands of people to the banks of the Thames, and many millions more watch proceedings on TV.

Cambridge currently lead Oxford by 80 wins to 75.

As well as the first crews from each university, there is also the race between Isis and Goldie, the reserve crews from Oxford and Cambridge respectively.

Highlights from previous races include the Oxford boat sinking in 1925, the only dead heat in 1877; 1989 saw both boats led by female coxes for the first time, and 1998 is the year of the fastest time.

This year's race is the seventh to have been sponsored by Xchanging, a company that provides support for businesses in many sectors including the risk profession. Xchanging have been running a graduate scheme in recent years, for those looking to enter the sector, and have offices in many locations, including the City of London and Kent.
