Insurers that get in at the deep end

Insurers that get in at the deep end

The 20th February will see the start of the 18th Fina Diving World Cup which will be held at the Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park in London.   The event is seen as a dress rehearsal for the Olympic event and will put the centre through its paces.

The competition will run for a week and features athletes from more than 40 countries. Olympic medal hopeful Tom Daley will be perhaps the best-known name taking part.

Injuries and mishaps occur in this sport (who could forget Greg Louganis' painful dive at the 1992 Oympics - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5nqeFWufrE) and teams will need to protect themselves against injury and associated medical expenses.

If a diver gets injured during the global event schedule, it could cost less to send them home rather than the daily costs of a hospital stay.

There are specialist companies such as Sportscover that make life easier for athletes like this. With the Diving World Cup beginning next week, and the Olympics following shortly afterwards, we expect 2012 to be a busy year for Sportscover.
