Apprenticeship star on London's Choice FM

Apprenticeship star on London's Choice FM Nineteen-year old risk apprentice Sophie Cooper starred in a major radio advertising campaign organised by the National Apprenticeship Service. The campaign, which was aired on London's Choice FM radio station to its half a million listeners, used the voices of six current apprentices from a range of occupations to communicate the benefits of Apprenticeships to this year's school and college leavers.

The campaign also aimed to raise awareness of the diverse range of Apprenticeships now available and featured apprentices working in software development, PR and pharmacy, as well as risk.

Sophie works at Bluefin, whose award-winning Apprenticehip programme is managed by Skills Solutions on a national basis. Sophie, who is currently based in Bluefin's Chelmsford office, has also been selected by the Chartered Insurance Institute to be one of their four 2013 Apprenticeship Ambassadors from across the country. Their role is to promote the use of Apprenticeships across the general insurance profession. Sophie has attended CII events and shared her experiences of entering the sector as an apprentice.

Sophie commented:

"The Apprenticeship has helped me enormously - especially as I shadow my manager in all meetings with clients and insurers. The Apprenticeship has allowed me to establish a general overview of insurance which I believe I would not have gained ordinarily. In addition I am able to learn from experience which will help me in continuing my studies to eventually gain Chartered Insurance Broker status."
