Hiscox apprenticeships open - City of London

Hiscox apprenticeships open - City of London As regular readers of the site will know, Hiscox is a bit of a rarity in the insurance and risk profession - a company whose adverts appeal to your mind rather than your wallet. Take a look next time you're at a major train station and you're likely to see something from them.

More importantly, Hiscox has high-quality apprenticeship programmes open right now for you. If you like the buzz of working in the City of London (or you like the idea of it) take a look at this.

  • Successfully make the transition between education and professional life.

Here's how you will grow your people skills:

  • Build and maintain relationships with your immediate team, your Team Leader and the wider London Market Operations team
  • Develop rapport with the Underwriters within your division
  • Ask rational and meaningful questions and seek clarification when anything is unclear.

Here's how you will build your sector knowledge:

  • Learn about all aspects of London Market insurance process and understand the role of each of the key stakeholders
  • Understand the history behind Lloyd’s of London, what takes place there and its importance to Hiscox
  • Develop an appreciation of different types of insurance and different classes of business.

Here's the kind of person you should be:

  • Efficient and proactive, with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Customer-focused and able to build strong working relationships internally and externally
  • A confident and friendly person
  • Well-presented and professional
  • IT-literate
  • Someone who loves attention to detail
  • A team player
  • Adaptable.

So far so good? You will also need to have (or be predicted to get) at least:

  • 3 A levels grade A*-C or equivalent
  • GCSE grade B in Maths and English Language/Literature.

The successful apprentices will start in September, so if you're not sure about going to university and you'd rather start your career now, here's one of the best things out there.
