Cyber Underwriting Assistant

An exciting new role has come up Working within the Cyber Division. this role provides support to the Cyber centre of excellence and helps the team to deliver its business plan.

This role is suitable for both school leavers and recent graduates looking to go on and complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Insurance on an 18-month programme.

The main responsibilities:

  • Review new and renewal risks including slip analysis, perform rating analyses and undertake premium monitoring
  • Perform Probable Maximum Loss (PML) analyses in conjunction with the Modelling/Aggregation Team
  • Complete pre & post bind processing of slips/endorsements in the in-house underwriting system (Charisma)
  • Maintain up to date underwriting records in Charisma
  • Monitor risks written and due for renewal
  • Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the underwriters
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of underwriting systems where applicable, e.g. new and/or enhanced benchmarking models, etc.
  • Liaise with brokers and develop good working relationships with broking and support teams
  • Liaise with other business areas within Chaucer as required, including credit control, claims, internal risk review, actuarial etc.

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and attain an understanding of their needs
  • Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate
  • Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) are upheld by Agents and Service Providers


  • Knowledge of the Lloyd’s and/or Company Market
  • Awareness of global Cyber risk landscape
  • Basic knowledge of Cyber insurance practices and procedures
  • Microsoft Office packages including Excel





  • GCSE Maths grade B or above
  • Minimum of 5 other GCSE’s grade C or above
  • 3 A Levels (A-C)
  • Progress towards ACII or equivalent (minimum ACII Diploma level)
