Entry level role with Pacific Life Re

Pacific Life Re work with clients in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America, specialising in risks associated with Life, Critical Illness, Income Protection, Hospital Cash and Longevity products. 

Role Description

We are creating a new role for a Graduate Trainee Modelling Analyst, within the Division Modelling Team at our London offices.  The team have focussed historically on supporting our various Actuarial functions around the world and are currently undertaking a major re-platforming of our financial models. 

The successful candidate, from a computer science or similar STEM field, will show a passion for their craft, a dedication to excellence and an energy and enthusiasm to fit the dynamic culture of our workplace.

Main Duties

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a consistent and robust set of modelling tools and processes across all Business Units in the Division. 
  • Tasks to cover all aspects of end-to-end process, including reviewing Business Requirement documents, drafting of Technical Specifications, planning and implementing model updates and Testing, Documenting and Reviewing changes. 
  • Assist in a major migration of models to a new platform which requires a substantial redesign, reimplementation and re-education process for all users and developers.
  • Establish subject-matter expertise and act as initial point of contact for all relevant issues and queries from our developers and users across the Division. 
  • Stay abreast of developments in technology and insurance and reinsurance markets, modelling platforms, product developments and new initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • A good degree in Computer Science or a similar STEM field

Essential Experience

  • Must have coding experience in eg. C++, Visual Basic, VBA, R or other structured language.
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as this role will work closely with other team members and our broader user base
  • Good analytical skills, solution oriented and deadline-focussed
