The biggest football club in the world? The biggest broker in the world?

Manchester United may have come up short by their high standards this season, by they landed first prize with their new shirt sponsorship deal.

For the last four seasons they have been sponsored by AIG, itself one of the world's largest insurers, in a deal that was worth over £55 million.

Now that their deal is drawing to a close, it's time to welcome another player in the risk and insurance space - AON.

AON signed a four-year, £80 million deal to sponsor those famous red shirts. That is the most lucrative deal in history. To put it into perspective, that is twice as much as Samsung's sponsorship of the newly-crowned champions, Chelsea and more than 50% higher per year than Real Madrid's deal.

So, who or what is AON? They are the UK's largest insurance broker and risk management organisation, with expertise in reinsurance and consultancy. Boasting a 5000-strong workforce in the UK, AON has more than 35000 staff in its 500 offices around the world.

AON's expertise covers a huge range of different areas, including kidnap and ransom risk, environmental risk, political risk and so much more.

By way of a thank you, the team will be taking in AON's HQ city, Chicago, as part of their North American tour before the start of next season.
