Did you bury your iphone in the garden?

Those in claims jobs have revealed the most bizarre iPhone insurance claims, according to Metro.

The specialist gadget insurer, Protect your Bubble, collated and analysed all of their strangest stories, before releasing them to the public. It is thought they did so in a bid to highlight the importance of obtaining adequate product insurance for smartphones.

A claim which cited "I lost my iPhone while skydiving naked," took the top spot, after the claimant said he tried to take a nude picture of himself whilst in the air and dropped his phone. Unsurprisingly, he was not alone, as one in five iPhone owners claimed for accidents in 2010.

Other weird and wonderful claims included someone "accidentally" burying their mobile phone in their garden, and another "dropping it in a food blender." However the most common complaint of iPhones came from tales of people dropping them in the bath. "With so many people carrying a mobile phone with them wherever they do, it's no surprise that they are being lost or damaged in a host of unusual ways," said a spokesperson for the company.

"Most of us know someone who has managed to drop their iPhone in a pint of beer or down the toilet - but these bizarre claims we have uncovered must be one-offs."

Additionally, a further spokesperson for Protect your Bubble spoke to Mobile Phone Expert, claiming: "We've seen a real increase in people [investigating] iPhone insurance over the last few months. Given the cost of replacing an iPhone it's hardly surprising. iPhones are unfortunately not immortal and since owners find it difficult not to take their precious toy everywhere, it's only likely that many will end up in an accident."
