Broking Stars Awarded at BIBA Conference

Broking Stars Awarded at BIBA Conference

Caroline Webster was named as winner of the award because of her outstanding achievement for Higos Insurance Services, her passion for future growth and her 'can-do attitude'. Caroline, Higos' Acquisitions Co-ordinator, has played a key role in the company's expansion throughout the South West.

Kelly Nadin of Bollington and Declan Shaw of R A Cowens were also named as national finalists in the young broker award which recognises the performance of younger brokers and encourages commitment to the future professionalism of insurance broking.

Both awards were presented at BIBA 2012 on Wednesday 16 May, just prior to BIBA's second keynote presentation - 'Shaping our Futures - the industry perspective' - chaired by Andrew Marr, where Dennis Veingard of Premiercare Insurance Brokers (UK) Ltd was also named winner of the 2012 Francis Perkins Award.

Dennis has been in the industry for over 40 years and has held positions on various committees since joining BIBA more than 30 years ago.  Dennis was selected for the Award, which was instigated by BIBA's first Chairman, in recognition of his longstanding dedication and commitment to the furtherance of the Association, particularly in respect of the Central region.

BIBA Chief Executive, Eric Galbraith said: "It is a great pleasure to be able to recognise both future and experienced stars of insurance broking alongside each other. The winners represent two important groups of our sector who are instrumental in shaping our future".
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) is the UK's leading general insurance organisation representing the interests of insurance brokers, intermediaries and their customers.

BIBA membership includes just over 2,000 regulated firms having merged with the Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB) in November 2011.

General insurance brokers contribute 1% of GDP to the UK economy and BIBA brokers employ more than 100,000 staff.

BIBA helps more than 400,000 people a year to access insurance protection through its Find a Broker service, both online and via the telephone.

Brokers provide professional advice to businesses and individuals, playing a key role in the identification, measurement, management, control and transfer of risk. They negotiate appropriate insurance protection tailored to individual needs.

BIBA is the voice of the industry advising members, the regulators, consumer bodies and other stakeholders on key insurance issues.   BIBA provides unique schemes and facilities, technical advice, guidance on regulation and business support and is helping to raise, and maintain, industry standards.
