Walkie Talkie building - home to London insurers

Walkie Talkie building - home to London insurers

The new 20 Fenchurch Street building, also nicknamed the Walkie Talkie, in the heart of the City of London (click here for a virtual tour), is becoming the home for some of London's key insurers.  The building, which is due to open in 12 month' time, has already had 53% of floor space taken.

Kiln, a Discover Risk supporter and graduate recruiter, has gone under offer to occupy around 80,000 sq ft on the lower four floors of the new building.

The letting comes hot on the heels of the 690,000 sq ft tower's debut letting to Markel. Markel is under offer to take around 80,000 sq ft of office space in the 37-storey development in a move away from its current City headquarters at 49 Leadenhall Street.

It has since been announced that Liberty Syndicates are the most recent insurer to sign up for office space.  Liberty Syndicates will occupy floors 21 to 23, while Liberty Insurance Europe will occupy floors 10-12.

The number, diversity and expertise of insurers competing in the London Market means that brokers can find the capacity and expertise required for the underwriting of virtually any type of risk, which makes the 20 Fenchurch Street building an and ideal location for insurers.

When complete, the tower will contain more than 28,000 cubic metres of concrete, 13,000 tonnes of structural and reinforcing steel and approximately 33,000 sq m of glass - an area equivalent to more than 4.5 football pitches.
