NC Insurance professional secures scholarship

A former Skills Company apprentice has secured a place on the prestigious Allianz Scholarship Programme.

Lea Hillary, who is an Account Handler for Gateshead-based insurance broker NC Insurance, was one of only 50 successful candidates selected from hundreds of applicants after a vigorous application process which included being interviewed by senior staff at Allianz.

The Allianz Scholarship Programme was launched in 2012 as a learning and development framework which supports talented broker staff and provides a structured path to achieving the CII Diploma in Insurance. It has been designed to provide first-class tuition and networking opportunities to develop the technical and industry knowledge of young, talented and professional brokers.
Lea has worked with The Skills Company since he joined NC Insurance in August 2013, during which time he successfully completed the Providing Financial Services Apprenticeship including his CII Certificate in Insurance professional qualification.

Mark Burdett, Sales & Marketing Director at NC Insurance said: "As a firm we are committed to gaining Chartered status and working with The Skills Company on apprenticeships has really helped develop our new and younger members of staff. All client-facing employees are now members of the CII and are working towards achieving their Certificate.

"We are keen for members of our team to complete their Diploma in Insurance, not only to further our aim to achieve Chartered status, but also as a commitment to each individual’s professional development. Since Lea joined us, he has shown the drive, ability and commitment required to be a successful insurance professional and I’d personally like to thank Lea and all the team at The Skills Company for their hard work and dedication.”
Lea Hillary added: “I am delighted to have been selected as a successful candidate for the Allianz Scholarship Programme and I am sure my work with The Skills Company played a big part. The Skills Company have helped me to develop my knowledge and skills which in turn helped me to secure a promotion within my current company. I would recommend The Skills Company to any young professional looking for a career in financial services as they provide an excellent approach to training and have friendly staff who are always available to help.”
