How an average day looks

My typical working day is about providing quality service to clients and their accounts by replying to client queries or seeking the appropriate technical expertise. Being part of a client service team enables me to communicate with a variety of colleagues within different areas of insurance in order to meet the client's demands and needs.

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is receiving positive feedback after helping a client. Even the challenging tasks of my job, such as paying a client within strict deadlines, are rewarding once completed. In order to be successful in a role like mine there are certain key skills I have had to learn. For instance I have to work to strict deadlines with high levels of accuracy whilst paying attention to detail. Being able to plan, organise and use my initiative whilst under pressure are therefore essential skills.

Skills gained

Consistent interaction with clients and colleagues has enabled me to build up my skills and knowledge. I am also a member of the CII and I am studying for a Diploma in Insurance which is helping me widen my expertise and knowledge of insurance. Although I have only been at Willis for 11 months my career highlight so far has been when I went into a school and gave a presentation on 'my job' and why I chose to work in the field of insurance. I enjoyed this because it helped me to grow in confidence, and by explaining what insurance is really about I may have helped someone else think about a career in insurance.
